Ep 023: Turn fear into courage | David Osborn
02:33 – David shares some of his story on real estate investments. He learned about positive leverage to acquire more assets and bought 4 homes. Those 4 homes today now have an equity value of $600K.
05:57 – David talks about his history in real estate investing. He started as a real estate investor because his mother was a realtor. Gary Keller was his first mentor.
08:00 – David talks about how he learned to scale. One, he learned to be around amazing people and hire amazing people to work for him and build an incredible partnership. Two, is he realized he can’t do it all, he can’t do what needs to be done to live at the scale he chooses to live at.
10:25 – David says that his biggest fear is not thinking big enough and not taking enough risk. David believes that there are people out there who have the same resources and ability like him but doing bigger things because they are taking bigger risk.
11:07 – David believes that a hero sees the fear and takes action and the non-hero seizes in fear and it stops them from taking action.
12:28 – David shares his breakdown. He spent 6 months on reconstituting himself and at the same time looking for his replacement at work. After 6 months he reinvented himself, his new identity was he only does the most important things. He started recruiting people to do the other things. He got better results and started to have much more fun.
14:49 – David does three things that he loves to do. One is he recruits talent, two is he recruits opportunities for his talent, and three is he creates visions.
18:38 – The reason why David kept growing is because his ambitions exceed his capability. In order for him to get where he wanted to be, he had to go through the breakdown to have a breakthrough.
19:25 – David believes that our lives are the direct reflections of the skills and capabilities we have right now and the only way to go to the next level is to acquire new capabilities and new capacities. The number elevation for capacity is letting go of the stuff that’s holding you down.
21:17 – One of David’s strongest influences has been the people he hangs out with. David is now financially free all because of real estate. He has a great relationship with his wife and kids, he’s doing amazing physical adventures, he’s in better physical shape because he works out religiously, and all of this is because of the people he hangs out with.
23:45 – David talks about how the book Tribe Of Millionaires started. A group of entrepreneurs achieved financial freedom and a balance of fun and adventure, influencing one another to the positive on a perpetual and ongoing basis.
25:52 – One of the things that tricks people is they talk about how great they’re going to be and only live in fantasy not in reality says David. The only way to build reality is to sometimes slap yourself in the face and be real about where you are because then you’re honest and with honesty you can tear down what’s not working and build what will work.

02:43 – David talks about his background. He started as a residential real estate sales agent and invested a ton of money in real estate of any kind. He has 100 single family homes personally.
03:58 – “Everything you have and are today is pretty much the reflection of your own identity,” says David. David talks about how he changed his identity and how other people can do it too.
05:13 – David says your identity is what you cling to and who you think you are and it’s also what creates the world around you.

- When someone tells you that you have 6 months to live.
- If you have a life crisis.
- If you have a religious experience.
- Hard work.
07:36 – David elaborates how the 4th way works. He shares his story of how his pain revisits his personality.
08:59 – David believes that wealthy, successful people are always purposeful. If you have a strong enough purpose your life will mold you into the person you need to be to fulfill that purpose if you keep pushing forward.
12:22 – David talks about his time with Richard Branson. The change he got from Richard Branson is “Don’t do your own emails” He put his team in charge of his email and it created more space for his family, more space for working out etc. It relieves him very much.
14:26 – David’s purpose is to achieve success in life while helping others to achieve success. The way he lives now is to live the most exceptional life he possibly can by contributing to others at the highest level.
18:03 – “Hard work is not enough,” says David. It’s the hard work on yourself, the willingness to change and to let go of what doesn’t work for you anymore.
21:13 – David defines the experience people will get if they become a part of Gobundance. David says Gobundance is full of amazing human beings who have achieved financial freedom.
22:30 – David’s favorite quote when he has doubt, nervousness, and fear is “Why not me?” David will ask people “Why not them?” There are people that are financially free, so why not you? There are people that live the life of their dreams, so why not you?
