Ep 099: Juggling a nursing job and multi-family investing | Leslie Awasom
03:32 – Leslie is an introvert and is not the kind of person that likes to go out and meet people but he knows that it is one of the things he needs to do in the real estate business.
08:03 – While doing his work as a nurse, he came across an article on Yahoo that talked about a book. He bought the book by Robert Kiyosaki, “Second Chance: For Your Money, Your Life and Our World”.
09:13 – In 2017, Leslie bought his first investment property. He made a tremendous amount of profit on it and that was an “Aha!” moment for him.
12:28 – Finding the right properties, finding the right deal, and meeting other people that do the right thing in real estate investing will make you successful, says Leslie.
15:19 – Getting into multi-family investing was something to help Leslie grow. It is going to force him to get out of his comfort zone. This is one of the exciting factors that pushed him to invest in multi-family.
17:14 – In regards to Grant Cardone Leslie says, “Take what he says and evaluate it for yourself and take the stuff that makes sense in you and then adopt it.”
20:01 – With more financial education, Leslie now understands the risk of other ways of investing. So, he evaluated the risk vs. risk and he realized that with multi-family there is minimum risk compared to the other vehicles he is investing in.
21:59 – When you are passionate about something, you find the time.
23:09 – Leslie said that you have to get rid of the things that are no longer important and are holding you back. You have to get rid of other people that are not moving you towards your goal and be more focused on the people that do move you towards your goal.
25:11 – “What I could focus on is myself and what I have control over, and I focus 100% on that. I keep myself healthy, I keep my mind clean, and I protect myself,” says Leslie.
26:52 – You have to determine your “why”, the reason why you want to get into real estate in the first place. You have to look deeper and find that “why”, and once you have a strong enough answer then everything else will start falling into place.
27:13 – Don’t look at it as a whole, take one step at a time. Just take action even if it means going to a networking event or watch online. Make yourself a promise to take action on a daily basis. Don’t focus too much on the goal, just take daily action and you will be surprised with what happens.
27:45 – Determine why you really want to do it and once you find the strong enough reason then surround yourself with the right people and then take action.
29:42 – See what fits you best and don’t try to do everything that everybody else is doing. Find what fits best to your personality and just take action and align yourself with it. Focus on what you’re doing and keep going.
