Ep 075: Former AirBnB employee speaks out | Danny Rusteen
20 – In December 2012, Danny quit his job at an Accounting Firm. Four months later, he applied to AirBnB but didn’t have any luck on his first time. He stayed in touch with the company and got his job a few months later.
30 – Since then, Danny started to build his own AirBnB property management company. A few months later he started to travel the world living in AirBnB’s.
10 – Danny was living in San Francisco for six years but didn’t feel happy. He also didn’t feel 100% fulfilled so he took a three month trip to Australia.
40 – While in Australia, Danny watched a video about Minimalism, ended up selling all his stuff, and getting a new roommate.
32 – Danny wrote a book and tried to figure out where in the world was best for him to go. His favorite country that he visited was Columbia. Some other places that he enjoyed were Kazakhstan, Georgia, Russia and Vietnam.
01 – Danny was fired from AirBnB and did leave with good terms.
50 – Danny tried to switch from accounting to business development but he did not convince the Head of Business Development department. AirBnB hired him back a few weeks later for a sales type role.
09 – 90 percent of AirBnB hosts probably didn’t get the Relief Fund because you have to fit the criteria, says Danny.
31 – When Danny was still with AirBnB, they raised money when they didn’t need it and saw hundreds of millions of dollars years ago.
49 – Danny believes that the business of AirBnB is still solid despite their website being slow.
32 – Danny points out the issues he experienced on the AirBnB website.
40 – There are a lot of issues and design issues that really are concerning, says Danny. AirBnB needs to improve, he added.
17 – Danny’s advice is to be an expert on the AirBnB platform.
42 – Danny suggests that if you want to improve your business, you should go to the Amenities section and figure out which of them will boost occupancy.
17 – He also advises that you have to make it cheaper because the other websites are so expensive.
