Ep 141: Why former athletes make the best real estate investors | Chris Larsen
04:27 – If you’re in this business, it is a relationship business. Do business with people you’ve known for a while and can trust, said Chris.
06:19 – If I am gonna hire somebody, I always love interviewing and hiring people that are lead athletes because you have to be very disciplined and you have to learn that there’s a payoff in the distance.
10:29 – If you are obligated to do what you love, it can’t take the joy out of it. You have to be very careful when you have those things in your life and you keep them sacred.
12:05 – You have to be confident that the path you choose is going to get you there. And any real athlete knows that you’re gonna get your butt kicked way more times than you’re gonna be kicking somebody else’s butt.
17:41 – You have to be honest with yourself. You have to look in the mirror and decide which you are good at.
20:21 – You can start small and build up yourself or you can go work with somebody so you can learn the business.
23:21 – We took all the knowledge and expertise from our advisors so we didn’t have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn from their mistakes and then we have to blend that with our experience and our knowledge and our own unique style and brand that we had.
23:49 – If you want to work with somebody, discover how you can bring value to them.
25:04 – The first step that I would do is look in the mirror, do an assessment of what you’re good at and what you like, be honest and be true. if you do something that you’re good at and you focus on what you enjoy, that’s gonna give that time.
25:48 – Develop a plan. Get clear in your vision because when you know where you want to go, the path is gonna make itself known.
26:01 – Do an assessment, put your vision into motion and find the right resources. Find the who’s that can help you get there. If you focus on the who and the how, that is gonna give you the ultimate success.
27:22 – Remember that “why” because when you get down the road and you have your why, it will keep you on track.
